BOKO HARA LEADER WOUNDED IN NIGERIA

Abubakar Ahekau, Nigerian Boko Haram leader has been reported severely wounded after trying to commit suicide to avoid capture by the Islamic State-allied jihadists’ rivals on May 19.

The leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province has been declared on numerous occasions before since the group started in 2009 and his current state also points to either dead or seriously injured wherever he is.

He is said to have shot himself on the chest on Wednesday by ISWAP jihadists in Boko Haram’s Sambisa forest stronghold when his faction was surrounded by the rival group and he was demanded to surrender.

An unnamed source relates that, “To avoid capture, Shekau shot himself in the chest and the bullet pierced his shoulder. He was badly injured.” His men escaped with him to an unknown location.

Shakau made headlines by kidnapping 300 school girls in Chibok in2014. The case is currently being investigated by the Nigerian army.
