SA READY AND WAITING FOR THIRD WAVE

South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa said the country might go under another stricter lockdown measures based on the severity of the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic on May 19.

The President addressed international media during the summit for financing of African economics amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Paris, France. The summit was hosted by French President, Emmanuel Macron.

He says the country is ready to face the coming wave, should it come, “we are watching it very closely. If it comes, we are ready. We are gearing up a whole number of measures. The issue of a lockdown is something that will only be looked at, depending on the severity of the third wave,” he said to France24.

All the other provinces of the country besides Limpopo and the Eastern cape have been showing sustained increases in COVID-19 cases but as the president has spoken, all measures will be taken to overpower it, will it show itself.
