The World Health Organisation (WHO) has criticised Europe’s vaccine rollout as low and warned that COVID-19 will not end until 70 percent of the population has been vaccinated.
WHO regional director for Europe, Hans Kluge has warned that countries are still a long way off from overpowering COVID-19, “The pandemic will be over once we reach 70% minimum coverage in vaccination”
At present, only 26% of the 53 countries that makes up Europe have received the first jab of vaccine, while the European Union has 36.6% population with one jab and only 16.9% of fully vaccinated population.

He raised the importance of fast effective rollout of vaccines as speed is the best upper hand they have against the virus. He further advised countries not to let their guard down when they see positive cases dropping but to take advantage and speed up rollouts.
